54° Congresso Internazionale AEJ

 Il
54° Congresso internazionale dell’AEJ (“Association of European Journalists”) si
è svolto in Irlanda in occasione del Centenario dell’Indipendenza 1916-2016. La
località che ha ospitato i cento delegati è stata Kilkenny, cittadina medievale
poco distante dalla capitale Dublino. Il congresso si è svolto dal 3 al 6
novembre in un caratteristico hotel, che si affaccia lungo il River Nore di
Kilkenny, dal quale si può ammirare il maestoso castello di origine normanna
nato nel 1195. Il meeting è stato dedicato al Tema “Brexit and its implications
for Europe”, con gli interventi del ministro degli Esteri, Charlie Flanagan; -
dell’ambasciatore inglese, Robin Barnett; - del presidente AIB Bank, Richard
Pym; - dell’editorialista di politica del “The Irish Times”, Stephen Collins; -
e si è concluso con l’applaudito intervento dell’irlandese, Mairead Mc Guinness
MEP, vicepresidente del Parlamento Europeo. L’altro argomento trattato è stato
“1916-2016 The changing face of Europe and its media” ed ha visto gli
interventi di: Mark Little, fondatore di Storyful e vicepresidente per i media
Europa Africa di Twitter e di Giles Portman, capo dell’unità europea
East-Stratcom.
La
seconda giornata del congresso ha riguardato il rinnovo degli organi statutari
internazionali. I delegati delle sezioni nazionali, tra le quali l’AGE per l’Italia,
riuniti in assemblea hanno riconfermato ai vertici dell’organismo: l’austriaco,
Otmar Lahodynsky, presidente; vicepresidenti: William Horsley (Gran Bretagna),
Saia Tsaousidou (Grecia) e Javier Arribas (Spagna); lo slovacco, Tibor Macak,
segretario generale e l’italiano Luigi Cobisi, tesoriere internazionale.
Durante i lavori si sono commemorati i tanti giornalisti caduti durante lo
svolgimento del servizio, in particolare, è stato ricordato il terzo
anniversario dell’uccisione in Mali dei due giornalisti francesi Ghislaine
Dupont e Claude Verlon e la recente scomparsa delle stimate giornaliste AEJ,
l’italiana Vera De Luca e l’inglese Celia Hamptom. L’evento è stato curato
nella perfezione dalla Sezione irlandese dell’AEJ, presieduta da Richard Moore.
Notevole l’impegno profuso dalla segretaria Eileen Dunne, dal tesoriere Tim
Ryan e dal loro team.
International Congress AEJ
The International
Congress AEJ (“Association of
European Journalists”) was held in Ireland on the occasion of the
Independence Centenary 1916-2016. The town that hosted the hundred delegates
was Kilkenny, medieval town not far from the capital Dublin. The congress was
held November 3 to 6 in a typical hotel, which overlooks along the River Nore
in Kilkenny, from where you can admire the majestic castle of Norman origin
born in 1195. The meeting was dedicated to the theme “Brexit and its
implications for Europe”, with speeches by Foreign Minister Charlie Flanagan; -
Of the British Ambassador, Robin Barnett; - President of AIB Bank, Richard Pym;
- Political editorialist of “The Irish Times”, Stephen Collins; - And ended
with the intervention of Irish applauded, Mairead McGuinness MEP,
Vice-President of the European Parliament. The other topic discussed was “1916-2016
The changing face of Europe and its media” and featured speeches by Mark
Little, founder and vice president of Storyful for Twitter media Europa Africa
and Giles Portman, the head of European unity East-Stratcom.
The second day of the
conference focused on the renewal of the international statutory bodies. The
delegates of the national sections, including the AGE for Italy, gathered at
the meeting reaffirmed the body's summits: the Austrian, Otmar Lahodynsky,
President; Vice-Presidents: William Horsley (Great Britain), Saia Tsaousidou
(Greece) and Javier Arribas (Spain); Tibor Macak (Slovak), Secretary-General
and the Italian Luigi Cobisi, International Treasurer. During the works were
commemorated the many journalists killed during the course of the service, in
particular, on the third anniversary of the killing it has been noted in Mali
of the two French journalists Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon and the recent
death of the estimated journalists AEJ, Italian Vera De Luca and English Celia
Hamptom. The event was taken care of in the perfection of the Irish Section.
